Founded in 2005, Interstate Flooring was built on a vision of quality service, sustainable flooring solutions, and a strong connection to the local community. The company was originally established by Debbie VanBaardwyk, who brought more than 30 years of experience in the flooring industry and launched Interstate as a 100% woman-owned business.
Today, Interstate Flooring continues to grow under the ownership of Cesar A. Sanchez and his wife, Maria Petruzelli de Sanchez. Together, they are focused on honoring the company’s legacy while expanding services and enhancing the customer experience. With Cesar’s extensive background in construction and home improvement, along with Maria’s 25+ years of HR leadership, they bring a powerful combination of industry knowledge, professionalism, and personalized care.
A Family-Owned Business
Interstate Flooring is proudly family-owned and operated by Cesar A. Sanchez and Maria Petruzelli de Sanchez. Cesar immigrated from Colombia in 1999 and became a proud U.S. citizen in 2016. Since 2004, he has built his career in the construction and countertop industry, developing businesses centered on craftsmanship and community service.
Cesar and Maria were married in 2007 and are the proud parents of twins, Stefano and Cristina. Maria, a second-generation Italian and experienced HR professional, plays a key role in the company’s people-first approach. Together, their family values guide the way Interstate Flooring serves every customer—with honesty, care, and commitment.
